Become a Puppy Raiser
Keep an assistance dog in your home for 18 months, while bringing it to classes and working on training yourself. Puppy raisers are a vital part of our mission.
Become a Puppy Sitter
Want to help raise an assistance dog but don't have the time or space for one full time? Puppy sitters fill in when the raisers need some help for a few days.
Become a Volunteer
Without dedicated volunteers, Pawsitism could not achieve it's mission. From training, to marketing and social media - we're always looking for those willing to help.
Volunteer Puppy Raiser
Volunteer puppy raisers provide a safe home, participate in obedience classes, serve a healthy diet, provide socialization opportunities and give a lot of love to our Pawsitism, Inc. dogs.
Each hour spent caring for a Pawsitism puppy is vital to its development as a future autism assistance service dog. We provide a puppy raising program and unique activities for volunteers to assist with to support our very important mission.
Please note: you must be at least 18 years old to be a volunteer puppy raiser. Those under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian as a co-applicant on the puppy raiser application.
As a volunteer puppy raiser, you must agree to the following:
- Provide a safe environment for a puppy who will be the only dog under one-year-old in the house
- Work closely with Pawsitism, Inc. on monitoring the puppy’s progress and submit monthly reports
- Attend approved obedience classes
- Provide age appropriate socialization opportunities such as public outings and medical appointments
- Keep the puppy on a leash at all times in less they are securely in a fenced area
- Supervise the young puppy throughout the day
- Agree to return the puppy upon request
Volunteer Puppy Sitter
Puppy sitters care for our pups when our puppy raisers are out of town. They teach basic obedience skills and health manners and socialize our pups to all of the sites and sounds in the world. The puppy raising program is a fundamental part of the journey of a Pawsitism dog; it provides the foundation on which formal service dog training will build.

Volunteer

Volunteers are the life force of Pawsitism. They touch every aspect of our operations and provide the highest quality care for pets. This work enables us to magnify our impact and provide more service dogs to families in need.
By joining Pawsitism’s team of dedicated volunteers, you’ll build strong relationships with other like-minded volunteers, the animal-loving community, and of course the service dogs themselves. Working together, we can help many families connect to the world, one service dog at a time. Pawsitism and our volunteers have a chance to make a lasting impact on people’s lives.

Community Groups
Our community plays a big part in supporting, socializing, and training our pups. Email us at pawsitism@gmail.com if your group is interested.

Help Out at an Event
Pawsitism hosts fun and uplifting fund-raising events. We are always looking for kind caring and motivated individuals to help out at our events.
