Who We Are
There is a need for an autism assistance dog program in the Sheboygan area.
As of 2012, the Center of Disease Control stated that the prevalence of autism in children is 1 in 68. There are no other programs in the spring area to provide fully trained autism service dogs.
The benefits of autism Service Dogs are proving to be truly remarkable. They assist people on the autism spectrum with everything from completing daily tasks to preventing wondering to acting as a calming presence during overwhelming situations.
Pawsitism Inc. is a new nonprofit in the Sheboygan area that is is training service dogs for children with autism by partnering with client families on fundraising to provide the autism services their child needs. There will be no personal cost to the family for the purchase of a dog.
Pawsitism works with Golden Retrievers and Goldendoodles. Volunteers care for our puppies. Pawsitism puppies spend the next 18 months with volunteer puppy raisers to provide basic obedience training, socialization and care.
